Attracting Wildlife to Your Garden

Attracting wildlife to your garden

From deer, foxes, hedgehogs to dragon flies, newts and wood lice you can attract all species of wildlife to your garden with simple alterations to small areas of your ‘patch’.

Garden centres and on-line merchants offer ladybird houses, nesting boxes, hedgehog homes and many more the list is endless.

First however, decide which wildlife you wish to attract and how large an area you wish to develop into your fascinating wildlife sanctuary.

Foxes have become more urbanised and can become a pest to neighbours that perhaps don’t share your passion, so please be careful if leaving food out, this can also cause rodent infestations and in some areas is illegal so please check with your local council before encouraging.

Wild rabbits and hares can be found in many rural gardens, once they have discovered an area, they can be difficult to remove and they will attack your vegetable patch if you’re not careful. It is however a lovely sight to see them playing in your garden. Town and city dwellers would obviously only be able to attract the type kept in a hutch.

But Town, City or rural we can all do our bit to help out our wildlife population.
